I Don't Have to Be Who Everyone Thinks I Am
I don't have to be the person everyone thinks I am
I get to be the one I'm becoming
I welcome remembrance
My sexuality is a gift
My essence is undeniable
My aura has room to shift
I am uninhibited
Now
A wild woman with apathy
yearning for a return to my ancestors
My body calls for reclamation
It requests reparations
for the time wasted
for the time spent not being authentically me
I don't need a permission slip
The only pressure is the throbbing
in my body beckoning for IAM
At any given moment, I'll call her name
let her loose like an arrow
snapping through the wind
A whiplash
like willow stems
lashing remembrance
It hurts, yet I remember
I'm the co-creator of my reality
There is only one me on this earth
until I return to stardust
And when I forget
I flow and remember
Always
IAM
